Taylor Roe, a junior at Oklahoma State and a two-time All-American including NCAA Division 1 cross country runner-up, joins DyeStat editor to discuss competing Oct. 15 in the women's 6-kilometer race at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitaitonal at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison. Roe is the top competitor in the field from the Division 1 final March 15 in Stillwater, as 19 All-Americans from last season are scheduled to compete in Wisconsin, along the first six teams and seven of the top 10 from the championship meet. She reflects on her 6-kilometer victory Sept. 18 at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater and shares how beneficial it has been to train and compete with Gabby Hentemann, Molly Born and Kelsey Ramirez, among several other teammates. Roe examines the chemistry of the group this season and speaks about the mission the team is on to complete unfinished business, both at the Big 12 Conference and Division 1 championship meets. She also explains how meaningful the opportunity is to compete against the top three teams in the country in North Carolina State, Brigham Young and New Mexico at Nuttycombe and how valuable the experience will be for Oklahoma State in the postseason. Roe revisits having her outdoor season cut short by injury, not allowing her to compete in conference, regional or national meets, and how that disappointment has created added motivation for this season and upcoming track opportunities. But she also has learned how important the extra time off was following winter and spring seasons where cross country and track overlapped, including both the Division 1 Indoor Championships in Arkansas and cross country final in Stillwater in a four-day span in March. Roe reminisces about racing in February at the Florida State Winter Classic and how that will benefit her and Oklahoma State during a potential return Nov. 20 to Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee for the NCAA championship meet. She also looks forward to Oklahoma State hosting the Big 12 Conference final Oct. 29 in Stillwater, before heading to regionals in Iowa.
