One of the top collegiate distance runners was injured Monday night in a car accident on a two-lane highway outside Oklahoma City.

Isai Rodriguez, an Oklahoma State All-American who was 22nd in the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships in November, was one of two prominent athletes at the university who sustained injuries that have been labeled "non-life threatening."

AJ Ferrari, an NCAA wrestling champion (197-pound division), was driving himself and Rodriguez back home after a youth wrestling clinic when the accident occurred. Ferrari was attempting to pass vehicles and collided with an oncoming car.

Rodriguez and the Oklahoma State indoor track and field team are due to compete this weekend at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

Accordring to reports, Rodriguez was able to crawl out of the vehicle, which caught fire, and was transported to a hospital via ambulance with injuries to his "internal trunk, arm, leg and head."
